Fiji receives Olympic quota after New Zealand returns women’s spot
New Zealand has declined the recurve women’s quota place for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games won by Nuala Edmundson at the Oceania continental qualifier in March.
The National Olympic Committee has accepted the men’s spot secured by Ben McLean.
The women’s place has been reallocated to third place – as both the archers in first and second were representing New Zealand – and now belongs to Fiji, courtesy Chaandvi Prasad.
Prasad, or another Fijian archer, will need to reach the minimum qualifying standard to compete at the Games, which is 610 points over the 72-arrow 70-metre round for women.
There are two qualifying events left for Paris 2024.
The European individual qualifier and European Championships award places in early May in Essen, followed by the last-chance qualifier in Antalya in June.
