World Archery values and respects the privacy of its users and is committed to protecting their personal data. The organisation processes personal data of visitors to its website and digital platforms solely for the purposes of regulating and promoting the sport of archery. This privacy policy gives more detail on how and why data is used.

World Archery’s digital platforms include but are not limited to the official website and any associated websites, applications published in digital stores and social media pages for the federation and its products.

This privacy policy applies to all personal data collected by World Archery.

World Archery processes the personal data of anybody with which the federation has a relationship within the context of its business, including those with potential interest in a relationship and individuals with which the federation has had direct or indirect contact. This includes personal data related to:

  • Athletes and officials, whose data is a matter of historical record;
  • Clients or prospective clients and their employees, owners or other associated persons;
  • Providers or prospective providers and their employees, owners or other associated persons;
  • Recipients of newsletters, press releases or other content;
  • Visitors to official websites, applications or social media platforms; and,
  • Individuals who otherwise contact, display an interest or whose data is processed in the context of the federation’s normal business.

World Archery receives personal data through analytics if you visit any of the federation’s websites or digital platforms. Users registered to certain services can submit additional information.

Data is also collected at World Archery events and additional marketing data is received from external sources.

World Archery may only process personal data if there is a reasonable basis for doing so within the context of the federation’s business, which is to regulate and promote the sport of archery, which includes but is not limited to:

  • When the person has participated in an event or activity organised by the federation;
  • When it is needed to execute an agreement with the federation;
  • When it is needed to comply with a legal obligation;
  • When there is a legitimate interest in doing so; and
  • When the person has given consent.

If personal data are processed on the basis of consent, consent will be requested. Consent can be withdrawn at any time however all collected data related to athletes, officials and events, including photographs and results, is considered historical interest and therefore will always remain public.

World Archery may wish to process personal data for uses other than that which it was collected for and the federation may only do so if there is a close relationship between the two purposes. If the relationship is insufficient, new consent will be requested before processing.

World Archery does not keep personal data longer than it is needed for the purpose it is collected for.

All collected data related to athletes, officials and events, including photographs and results, is considered historical interest and therefore will always remain public.

World Archery may share personal data with companies, organisations or other third parties as required within the normal context of the federation’s business, particularly when related to the hosting of events. In these cases, the data is used solely for the appropriate purpose and not transferred to the relevant third party.

The personal data of all athletes and officials registered in the World Archery database is shared with the relevant national federation.

World Archery endeavours to protect personal data against loss, misuse or unauthorised modification.

The federation has taken the appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect data, including requiring approved access to registered services, system and network security measures such as encryption, and all devices are password protected an employees are educated on the confidential use of personal data.

World Archery uses cookies on its official websites, applications and digital platforms. A cookie is a simple small file that is stored on your computer that enables digital platforms to recognise a user and improve their experience.

Most browsers offer an option to refuse the use of cookies. If this option is taken, platforms may not function optimally. If you allow a cookie to be placed on your computer, it can be deleted.

Tracking and social media cookies may be used in addition to functional and analytical cookies.

World Archery will endeavour to provide details on the personal information we hold about you if requested however if the federation is unable to do so, an explanation will be provided. You can request this information to privacy@archery.sport and you may be asked to prove your identity.

You have the right to have data changed or deleted, unless it is data that is made available in historical interest.

You have the right to request that the processing of your data is restricted, object to the processing of your data or withdraw previously issued consent for the processing of your data. You have the right to transfer your data. 

This privacy policy does not apply to the websites of third parties that are linked to any of World Archery’s digital platforms. The federation is not responsible for the content of these websites.
