Sustainability
World Archery has committed to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
World Archery has committed to environmental, social and economic sustainability at all levels of its operations and governance.
To support environmental sustainability, the federation has joined the Sport for Climate Action United Nation’s initiative and signed the Climate Neutral Now pledge, which formalises the goal of reducing carbon emissions by at least 50% by 2030 (compared to 2019) and achieving carbon neutrality by 2040. Since 2020, World Archery has offset all its unavoidable carbon emissions.
As part of social sustainability, the federation provides support and assistance to its member national associations around the world, seeking to develop expertise, organise programmes and build facilities that leave a lasting legacy for the sport, particularly around major events. Members are required to be active, to adhere to governance guidelines and to comply with constitutional rules on equality, judicial systems and independence.
To support economic sustainability, the federation is working with event organisers to establish responsible budgets while using local suppliers wherever possible. It has begun a price increase programme to ensure that available funds are returned to the athletes, and is working to meet future needs for increased financial reserves.
