World Archery partners with ABU to distribute content in Asia-Pacific
World Archery has formalised its long-standing partnership with the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union to distribute the sport’s high-quality content to major broadcasters in the region.
The international federation will supply rights-free material from major international archery competitions including the Hyundai World Archery Championships, Hyundai Archery World Cup and Olympic qualifying events through ABU Sport’s content-sharing platform, targeting regions that do not already have an existing rightsholder.
ABU and World Archery will work together to make content available in new and easy-to-use formats over the two-year agreement, aiming to make archery an accessible and valuable option for broadcasters in the Asia-Pacific.
World Archery is an international federation responsible for regulating and promoting the sport of archery worldwide, as well as organising a calendar of major events including the biennial World Archery Championships and the annual Hyundai Archery World Cup circuit.
The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union represents the collective interests of more than 250 member broadcasters and media industry organisations across 60 countries by facilitating regional and international cooperation and partnership. The union runs services like news and sport exchanges, co-produces programming, and organises conferences and training.
World Archery secretary general Tom Dielen said:
“World Archery’s vision is for a world in which everybody has the opportunity to enjoy the sport of archery, as a participant or watching as a fan. By leveraging the Asian Broadcasting Union’s expertise in the Asia-Pacific, and continuing to produce high-quality packaged programming, the sport can continue to grow its footprint in the region.”
Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union secretary general Ahmed Nadeem said:
“The opportunity to partner with World Archery is an opportunity to promote sports across Asia and the Pacific. The Asian Broadcasting Union views sports and sporting events as a harbinger of mutual understanding, cooperation and peace. ABU Sports has the required experience and expertise working with broadcasters and in the sports industry to, hopefully, gather momentum for World Archery in the region.”
“The strong content promotion and generation initiatives of ABU, in collaboration with its member broadcasters across the continent, will help archery enthusiasts and fans across Asia better access the sport.”
