World Archery and SMT launch broadcast technical partnership
World Archery and Shanghai Media Tech (SMT) have agreed a three-year partnership for the technical production of the archery’s top-tier international events, including the Hyundai Archery World Cup and Hyundai World Archery Championships.
The deal will see SMT build and operate a custom-built Cube, a container-based outside broadcast unit, alongside an international production team for archery+, the content unit of the international federation.
SMT’s Cube will include the deployment of InnoMotion, an innovative AI-driven arrow tracking and visualisation technology debuted at last year’s Shanghai stage of the Archery World Cup and subsequently implemented at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
InnoMotion was recently shortlisted in the Sports Broadcast Awards for “best use of tech in a sports production”.
The three-season partnership runs from 2025 to 2027.
World Archery secretary general Tom Dielen said:
“This new agreement with SMT is a large step forward for World Archery and archery+. Not only will it guarantee world-class production quality but provides a platform for innovation based around the exciting InnoMotion tracking technology.”
Shanghai Media Tech general manager Forest Lin said:
“Thanks for the trust and cooperation opportunity given by World Archery. SMT has always paid great attention to and been committed to the combination of AI technology and actual media business. I hope that we can help the development of the archery industry and attract more people to like this sport through the application of more new technologies.”
World Archery is the international federation for the Olympic sport of archery, responsible for regulations, organising major events and promoting participation.
