World Archery announces coaching course calendar for winter 2020/21
World Archery has released its calendar of coaching courses for the winter season, from October 2020 to March 2021. This signals the restart of international development activity after its hiatus, along with competitions, which began in March.
All courses will either be held in the World Archery Excellence Centre in Lausanne, Switzerland or online; be led by internationally recognised experts and take place in English unless otherwise noted below.
The courses in the Centre will comply with local health regulations regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.
Registration for any of the courses announced to take place this winter is completed through national archery federations. There may be conditions for eligibility, which are listed in the brief prospectus below.
Course calendar winter 2020/21
The following courses will be held in the World Archery Excellence Centre in Lausanne.
- 5-10 October 2020 – level 1 coaching course (invitation available)
- 9-15 November – level 2 coaching course (invitation available)
- 18 January-16 April 2021 – resident coach programme
- 23-28 February 2021 – level 1 coaching course (French)
- 9-14 March 2021 – level 1 coaching course
The following courses will be held online.
- 25 October 2020 – World Archery Coaches’ Seminar (day 1)
- 8 November 2020 – Coach trainer refresher
- 25 November 2020 – World Archery Coaches’ Seminar (day 2)
- 6 December 2020 – Master coach trainer refresher
Registration for the courses in the Excellence Centre in 2020 is now open. Further details on courses in 2021 and those being held online will be made available in the autumn.
Coaching course prospectus
Level 1: The entry-level coaching certification issued by World Archery, teaching the ability to coach athletes to intermediate level.
Completion of the online coaching module is required prior to participation. Registration is only possible through a national archery federation.
Level 2: A course covering intermediate coaching skills including advanced technique training, equipment study and tuning, and the theory of biomechanics and psychology in archery.
Participants receive a diploma of attendance but no certification. Completion of the level 1 course is required prior to participation. Registration is only possible through a national archery federation.
Resident coach programme: A three-month intensive education programme targeted at archery coaches interested in upgrading their experience. Includes theory lessons and offers the chance to practise new skills at the World Archery Excellence Centre in Lausanne, Switzerland. Graduates of this course can create and manage high-level performance programmes.
Participants must have a national or international coaching certification, a minimum of two years’ experience and be fluent in English. Registration is only possible through a national archery federation and funding may be available from the applicant’s National Olympic Committee.
