Excellence Centre hosts first World Archery certified coaching course
The first 17 people were certified as level 1 coaches under World Archery’s new education programme at the end of a five-day course in the World Archery Excellence Centre that ended on 1 December.
Developed in association with the World Academy of Sport, the new coaching certification has two parts – the first is an online module and the second is a practical workshop.
Participants must pass an evaluation at the end of the workshop to be certified.
World Archery has been organising international seminars for its level one and two coaching manuals for many years. Previously, participants in these seminars did not receive any official accreditation.
Those who pass the new coaching course receive an official World Archery level one coach diploma that is valid for four years. This certifies that the coach has demonstrated the knowledge and skill required to teach archery to the standard outlined in the level one manual.
The new coach education programme is offered as a service to national archery federations, which can use World Archery’s standardised certification to train coaches as an alternative to managing a domestic programme.
Federations can buy bulk access licenses to the online module from the World Archery office. A calendar of practical workshops will be announced.
The next level one practical workshop will take place in French in the World Archery Excellence Centre on 9-14 March 2020. Participants must have completed the online module before attending.
