Logo unveiled for new World Archery Excellence Centre
The logo of the new World Archery Excellence Centre in Lausanne, Switzerland was officially launched in December 2015.
Envisaged as a hub for Olympic, elite and recreational archery worldwide, the state-of-the-art facility will host training camps, individual athletes, judging and coaching seminars, and become the primary venue for World Archery development initiatives.
The project, overseen by FIDTA, the Development Foundation of World Archery, was initiated in 2009. After five years of planning, ground was broken at the construction site at the end of 2014.
World Archery President Prof Dr Ugur Erdener said: “As construction of the World Archery Excellence Centre progressed and the building took shape, it became clear that the facility needed its own identity.”
“This new logo incorporates and extends the strong brand colours of World Archery, uses the dynamic shape of target rings to pinpoint the centre’s aim of contributing to the development of archery as an elite sport, and links into the building itself, highlighting its six distinct areas.”
Each of the shapes in the logo will correspond to one of the following parts of the facility:
- Outdoor archery range
- Indoor archery range
- Office space
- Gym
- Athlete lounge and cafeteria
- Meeting rooms
Supporters of the World Archery Excellence Centre include World Archery, Easton Foundations, SporToto, the City of Lausanne and the Foundation for Sport in the Canton of Vaud.
“I believe this prestigious project is key for the Olympic Capital of Lausanne, as part of its ongoing relationship as a city with the international federations, and will also act as an important sporting legacy to the local community,” added Prof Dr Erdener.
The World Archery Excellence Centre is expected to open its doors after the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
