The 3D World Championships open in Sopron
Sopron
The Judges serving in Sopron All the 143 participants taking part in the 3D Archery World Championships have arrived Sopron, Hungary. They represent 19 countries: Austria, Belgium, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Mexico, Russia, Slovenia, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.
The Organizing Committee, led by the President of the Hungarian Archery Federation Mr Sebastian Vanky, has realized an excellent job in order to have everything organized on time. Two courses have been prepared for the first days of competition and have already been checked by the Judges under the direction of Neil Dimmock (GBR). The Chairman of Judges said: “The organization is absolutely superb. Out of the fact that it is a new discipline for me, the level of experience of this Organizing Committee in 3D event make me feel more than confident that it will be a successful competition which will be enjoyed by all participants”.
The official practice and equipment inspection took place today, with no issues reported. As new 3D rules apply for this World Championships, there was some concern as to whether the participants would be aware and prepared for that. It seems that they all were, and therefore, the equipment inspection could be finalized within two hours.
Foam animals and targetsThe official practice field gathered all the participants, who could practice on targets at various distances and on foam animals. The teams also had the possibility to inspect all the foam animals that will be used in the event, since they were presented in the accreditation tent. The sponsor for these foam animals and targets is the Hungarian company ELEVEN. A stand and some “moving” 3D targets are presented at the practice field for the archers that would like to test them.
Apart from official practice and equipment inspection, today was also devoted to the Team Captain meeting (1:15 pm) and the Opening Ceremony in downtown Sopron City (6:00 pm).
The competition will start tomorrow (Thursday 7 June) at 9:00 am for all the qualification rounds.
