Statement of solidarity with Türkiye and Syria after devastating earthquake

A huge earthquake hit the country of Türkiye on Monday 6 February, resulting in significant loss of life and devastation.

World Archery secretary general Tom Dielen, on behalf of the World Archery executive board and international archery community, has expressed solidarity and most sincere condolences in the aftermath of this tragic situation.

“Our thoughts are with the archery community and peoples of Türkiye and Syria at this difficult time. Antalya has long been integral to our international calendar and we feel deeply for everyone affected by this terrible tragedy, which comes shortly before the county was due to host another major event in the European indoor championships.”

Antalya has hosted a stage of the Hyundai Archery World Cup since its inception in 2006.

The European indoor championships, originally scheduled to take place on 13-18 February 2023 in Samsun, have been cancelled.
