President to stand unopposed for re-election in 2021

World Archery’s incumbent president Prof Dr Ugur Erdener will be the lone candidate for election to his current post at this year’s upcoming congress.

He has served in the presidency since 2005 and is about to come to the end of his fourth full term.

During Prof Dr Erdener’s tenure, World Archery has significantly strengthened its position in the Olympic movement, the Hyundai Archery World Cup has gone from launch to celebrating its 15th season, and the sport’s broadcast and digital reach has hit record highs.

Once re-elected, the upcoming term will be his last. As of 2023, the term limitations passed at Congress 2019 will come into effect.

These elections in September will be the first held under new rules that see all nominations being approved by the electoral board and candidates given the opportunity to present themselves before or during the congress.

Elections will also take place for the positions of vice president, executive board member and across the federation’s eight permanent committees.

The deadline for nominations has now passed.
