President congratulates Thomas Bach on re-election to Olympic presidency

Thomas Bach was re-elected as president of the International Olympic Committee for a second term of four years on Wednesday 10 March 2021 during the 136th IOC Session, which was held virtually and based in Lausanne.

World Archery president Prof Dr Ugur Erdener issued the following message of congratulations.

“On behalf of the World Archery family, I congratulate Dr Thomas Bach on his re-election to the presidency of the International Olympic Committee.”

“Under his great leadership, the Olympic movement has modernised and refocused on the core asset of sport. The athletes are and always will be the most important part of the Games – and the relationship between the two is now closer than ever. The president’s progress in areas of sustainability, credibility, youth engagement and gender equity, and the success of Agenda 2020, are lasting contributions to the future of sport.”

President Bach most recently visited an archery event during the 2019 Hyundai World Archery Championships in ’s-Hertogenbosch, where he presented OLY certificate and pins to Olympians competing in the tournament – and attending as spectators – among them was reigning Olympic Champion Chang Hye Jin.
