Beiter, TRUBall/Axcel submit team rosters ahead of second World Series stage

The recurve runners-up from last year’s Indoor Archery World Series have entered a squad for this year’s remote event ahead of the second stage, which runs from Friday to Sunday.

Newlyweds Lisa and Florian Unruh return for Beiter this season and are joined by the current recurve men’s open ranking leader, Felix Wieser, who replaces Cedric Rieger. All three archers are German, representing a German archery manufacturer.

Florian beat Brady Ellison to win gold at last season’s Indoor Archery World Series Finals in Las Vegas in February.

Wieser shot a field-leading score of 598 out of a possible 600 points to win the first remote stage of this year’s circuit.

“This is my personal best,” Wieser said afterward. “I always admired archers with such scores, and now I’ve shot it, too.”

All three members of the Beiter squad will shoot the second stage of this Indoor Archery World Series at the Lausanne Invitational, a small live event at the World Archery Excellence Centre. The finals will be streamed live on Sunday.

TRUBall/Axcel Archery has also entered its compound team ahead of stage two.

The truly international lineup sees reigning Indoor Archery World Series and Hyundai Archery World Cup Champion Mike Schloesser of the Netherlands unite with current indoor world-record holder Sarah Prieels of Belgium and longtime Danish international Martin Damsbo.

Schloesser and Damsbo will also compete in Lausanne.

Entry to the recurve and compound team events costs 60 CHF – it is open to national squads, companies, clubs and independent groups – and World Archery is guaranteeing a 10,000 CHF prize fund for the team-only Indoor Archery World Series Finals in late February.

Registration ends at midnight CET on 31 December.

Scores for the team event must be shot at tournaments registered in the World Archery calendar, unlike scores for the individual open ranking – which can also be shot at private clubs and ranges.

The 2021 Indoor Archery World Series is a mass-participation circuit of live and online archery tournaments.
