Netflix releases Paralympic documentary ‘Rising Phoenix’ featuring Matt Stutzman

The Paralympic documentary Rising Phoenix, featuring USA para archer Matt Stutzman, was made available to stream worldwide on Netflix on Wednesday.

The release coincides with one-year-to-go celebrations for the delayed Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

Endorsed by the International Paralympic CommitteeRising Phoenix examines how the Paralympics have sparked a global movement and change the way the world thinks about disability, excellence, diversity and human potential.

Stutzman, a London 2012 silver medallist who was born without arms, is one of nine Paralympians whose stories are depicted in the documentary.

“I think [the film] is trying to bring awareness to everyone who is watching. Yes, we have physical disabilities, but that does not stop us,” Stutzman said. “We can still live normal lives. We can still be the person who goes to the grocery store and gets food. We can live like everybody else.”

The film is 1 hour, 46 minutes long.

A subscription to Netflix is required to view the film. Visit the site to watch the official trailer for Rising Phoenix.
