Nur Syahidah Alim shortlisted for IPC para athlete of the month award

Nur Syahidah Alim has been shortlisted for the International Paralympic Committee’s Allianz Athlete of the Month award for June after she won Singapore’s first-ever world title at the 2019 World Archery Para Championships in ’s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands.

The 33-year-old was the gold medallist in the compound women’s open event.

Public voting for the award is open on the International Paralympic Committee website until midday CET on Friday 12 July.

“I’m very happy and very proud that I was able to win that gold medal for my country. It comes as a surprise, as well,” said Nur after her victory in the Netherlands.

She is currently competing at the second leg of the European Para Archery Cup in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic where she has secured the top seed.

Thailand’s Hanreuchai Netsiri, Sarka Musilova and David Drahoninsky of the Czech Republic, the USA’s Matt Stutzman and Russian para archer Svetlana Barantseva were the other leaders over qualification.

Nominations for the Allianz Athlete of the Month award are chosen after submissions from National Paralympic Committees and international federations.
