Shibuya enters Cousins, Pagni and So Chaewon as team for Indoor World Series

Japanese archery manufacturer Shibuya will be represented by an international group of Dave Cousins, Sergio Pagni and So Chaewon in the compound team event of the 2020 Indoor Archery World Series.

The team competition is open to companies, clubs, nations and other groups. It accrues the individual results of its team members into a team ranking.

Dave Cousins, from the USA, is a multiple world champion archer. He won the outdoor target championships in Riom in 1999, field championships in 2002 and 2010, and 3D championships in 2013.

Sergio Pagni is the reigning Vegas Shoot Champion. The Italian archer was the first to win the Hyundai Archery World Cup Final in back-to-back years, first taking the title in 2009 and repeating in 2010. He also won the World Archery Indoor Championships in 2014.

So Chaewon is currently ranked number six in the world. She has been a fixture on Korea’s international team since 2017 and became only the fourth (joint with Sara Lopez) compound woman to shoot a perfect 900-point round at the Vegas Shoot in February 2019.

Shibuya is an archery accessory manufacturer in Japan. Since 1979, the company’s sights have been used to shoot world record scores by archers at home and abroad. The company also produces stabilisers and recently released a recurve tab.

Shibuya chief of international sales Phil Knall said: “We are excited about the team competition as it is an extra title for our shooters to aim for while giving our brand a chance to shine in a new setting.”

“With so many world-class competitive archers shooting our sights, we had a tough time picking just three archers for the team. But we are sure Dave, Sergio and Chaewon will represent Shibuya superbly and the Shibuya compound team will stand victorious at the end of the Indoor World Series!”

The 2020 Indoor Archery World Series includes six events and begins this weekend at the Macau Open.

Teams consist of three athletes shooting either recurve or compound, must be mixed-gender and cost 240 CHF to enter. World Archery has guaranteed a minimum prize purse of 5000 CHF.

Registrations for the team event are being accepted until the Nimes Archery Tournament on 17-19 January 2020. The entry form is available online. Points are accrued from the time of entry and not backdated.

The Indoor Archery World Series is a collection of mass-participation and elite tournaments held in destination cities around the world.
