Claudia Wohlleben shoots masters world record at Bavarian championships

Claudia Wohlleben scored 573 out of a possible 600 points for the 60-arrow 18-metre ranking round to set a new recurve masters women’s world record on 20 January 2019 at the Bavarian championships in Augsburg, Germany.

“I learnt that I had set a world record only one week after the event, and at first I could not believe it,” said Claudia. 

“I'm very proud. Even my clubmates were very happy with me.”

The score was one higher than the previous record of 572, set by Marie-Claire van Stevens on 2 December 2002 in Ottignies, Belgium. Wohlleben, 56, also increased the German national record by four points.

Wohlleben started archery in 1976 with her father. She was a member of the German national team in the mid-80s.  She has been a Bavarian archery champion in the youth, senior and masters divisions but took a break from the sport from 1991 to 1996 to have children.

Claudia won the recurve master women’s division at Germany’s national outdoor championships in August 2018.
