Schloesser among archers taking outdoor season headstart in Mexico

Recently-crowned World Archery Indoor Champion Mike Schloesser is among the top archers to begin their outdoor season a little early in 2018, at the popular open-entry Versus MX Shoot, being held on 21-25 March in 2018 at the Pan American Archery Stadium in Guadalajara, Mexico.

“The reason that I’m going is that it is a well-organised tournament early in the season with great weather and a lot of scoring arrows that serves as a perfect preparation to get into the outdoor competition feeling,” said Mike.

The five-day tournament, which attracts some of the world’s best ahead of the official start of the international outdoor season in Shanghai, consists of qualification, a round-robin format group stage, elimination and finals phases.

While amateur archers have an opportunity to go head-to-head with pros, world-class archers get an intense five days of training.

“[I would recommend it to upcoming archers] because It has a qualification round and pool system rounds where you get to shoot a lot of arrows and a lot of matches, which is something that you might not be able to do at other tournaments,” said Schloesser.

The year’s edition of Versus MX counts internationals Gabriela BayardoSarah Sonnichsen, Steve Anderson, Toja and Brady Ellison, Roberto Hernandez and Ana Umer among its competitors.

More than $30,000 USD in prize money is available across the divisions.
