Top 5 ranking round scores of 2017

Medals mean matchplay in modern archery, but a good qualification round always puts a contender in better shape for any head-to-head bracket.

We’ve rounded up the top five ranking round scores of each archer from the 2017 season at world ranking events, which included the Hyundai Archery World Cup circuit, World Archery Championships and World Games.

How do your scores compare?

Recurve men

1. Kim Woojin, Korea – 695/720 at the Hyundai Archery World Cup stage in Berlin, Germany in August. Also ranked first in the world and with another Hyundai Archery World Cup Champion title under his belt, Kim’s 2017 was a success – although he couldn’t secure that third world crown to cap it off.

2. Wei Chun-Heng, Chinese Taipei – 690/720 at the Asia Cup in Bangkok, Thailand in March.

3. Lee Seungyun, Korea – 689/720 at the Universiade in Taipei City, Chinese Taipei in August.

=4. Im Dong Hyun, Korea – 686/720 at the Hyundai Archery World Cup stage in Shanghai, China in May. 

=4. Brady Ellison, USA – 686/720 at the Hyundai Archery World Cup stage in Antalya, Turkey in June. 

Top 10 score: 680/720. Top 100 score: 658/720.

Recurve women

1. Choi Misun, Korea – 687/720 and world record at the Universiade in Taipei City, Chinese Taipei in August. This score was a world record, beating the previous mark by one point. Choi only podiumed once individually in 2017.

=2. Kang Chae Young, Korea – 684/720 at the Hyundai World Archery Championships in Mexico City in October.

=2. Choi Minseon, Korea – 684/720 at the Asian Championships in Dhaka, Bangladesh in November.

4. Chang Hye Jin, Korea – 683/720 at the Hyundai Archery World Cup stage in Salt Lake City, USA in June. 

5. Tan Ya-Ting, Chinese Taipei – 680/720 at the Hyundai World Archery Championships in Mexico City in October.

Top 10 score: 668/720. Top 100 score: 641/720.

Compound men

1. Mike Schloesser, Netherlands – 717/720 at the Mexican Grand Prix in Monterrey, Mexico in April. An incredible points total early in the season. Schloesser won one World Cup stage in 2017, in Salt Lake City.

2. Stephan Hansen, Denmark – 716/720 at the World Games in Wroclaw, Poland in July.

=3. Dominique Genet, France – 711/720 at the World Games in Wroclaw, Poland in July.

=3. Kim Jongho, Korea – 711/720 at the Hyundai World Archery Championships in Mexico City in October.

=5. Pierre-Julien Deloche, France – 710/720 at the Hyundai World Archery Championships in Mexico City in October.

=5. Sergio Pagni, Italy – 710/720 at the Hyundai World Archery Championships in Mexico City in October.

Top 10 score: 708/720. Top 100 score: 695/720.

Compound women

1. So Chaewon, Korea – 709/720 at the Asian Championships in Dhaka, Bangladesh in November. A consistent high-qualifier, Chaewon secured the first individual medal of her career at the Universiade last season.

=2. Sarah Sonnichsen, Denmark – 707/720 at the Hyundai Archery World Cup stage in Shanghai, China in May. 

=2. Sara Lopez, Colombia – 707/720 at the World Games in Wroclaw, Poland in July.

=4. Linda Ochoa-Anderson, Mexico – 703/720 at the Hyundai Archery World Cup stage in Berlin, Germany in August. 

=4. Jyothi Surekha Vennam, India – 703/720 at the Asian Championships in Dhaka, Bangladesh in November.
