President discusses development, success and future with Armenian sports minister

Prof Dr Ugur ERDENER met with Mr Gabriel GHAZARZAN, Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs for the Republic of Armenia, accompanied by Archery Armenia President Ms Nazik AMIRYAN.

While official practice ran at the competition field in nearby Echmiadzin, Mr GHAZARZAN explained Armenia’s programme of support for international competitions to the World Archery President in the country’s capital, Yerevan. Building on the success of continental championships, the nation is prepared to host other major events – including world championships – for a number of sports.

The group discussed the progress of archery in Armenia and committed to continue the close relationship between World Archery and Armenian national archery federation officials, through future development initiatives and activities.

“Archery in Armenia is developing at an encouraging pace,” said Prof Dr ERDENER. “I am encouraged by both the competency of the organising committee in place to run the European Championships this year and the dedication of Armenia’s government to develop through sport.”

“We can now look forward to a successful Echmiadzin championships and a successful programme to ensure the ongoing growth of archery in Armenia.”
