France can do it: what we learnt on day 1
We learnt that Russian outdoor cadet world champion Alexandra SAVENKOVA is rounding into a form with a brand-new bow, after she had equipment issues in the week leading up to these worlds.
Aida ROMAN, who took silver at the London 2012 Games, was looking more focused than we’ve seen her in recent times during practice.
The United States’ compound team is pretty relaxed. The European Tournament in Nimes is popular with top archers round the world so they travel here annually, and that familiarity has bred some serious confidence in their chances at this tournament. And rightly so, Reo WILDE and crew have been excellent indoors for the best part of a decade.
With 354 athletes, Nimes has broken the record for competitor participation at a world indoors, and its 45 nations equals the previous best. Nimes is also the first city to host the event for a second time.

French team members have their head in the game. Practising together, practising hard – and in this fantastic venue, practising to take home a great big medal haul on home soil.
