15 February 2010 - South Asian Games in World Cup style

South Asian Games in World Cup style Lausanne – 15 February 2010     The 11th South Asian Games took place from 29 January to 9 February in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The organisers followed the example set by the Archery World Cup Final 2009 in Copenhagen, with the archers shooting above water in a spectacular location.   For the first time, archery was among the 23 sports included in the South Asian Games. The South Asian region consists of eight countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepals, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Archers from five countries – Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka – competed in the event.   The competition was open to recurve archers only. In total, 20 men and 20 women participated in the event. The India Archery Team took all the gold medals.   FITA is very pleased that the concept of the Archery World Cup with finals in fantastic venues is spreading all over the world. The 11th South Asian Games are a great example for our Member Associations and events organisers!   FITA Communication
