Quotes of the Day
Copenhagen
Simon TERRY (GBR), Marco GALIAZZO (ITA), Romain GIROUILLE (FRA)
Recurve MenMarco GALIAZZO (ITA) – winner I have never disappeared from the high level. I believe since my Olympic title in 2004, I have always shown that I am capable of good results. Today I win a big one and this motivates me even more for the future. Today, the competition was perfect: nice weather, no wind, good temperature and a perfect place with a great atmosphere!
Romain GIROUILLE (FRA) – 3rd 3rd place is OK. In Lausanne last year it took me one match to get it on. Today, it took me two ends. The results is the same, 3rd place, but it concludes a very nice season. Let’s hope it will be even better next year.
Recurve Women
YUN Ok-Hee (KOR) – 3rd I always compete to win, so I am not so happy with my 3rd place. Compound Men
Sergio PAGNI (ITA) – winner I am very happy with this victory. It’s a great award after two years of battle at the very high level. Last year in the Final in Lausanne, I had a bad day and finished 4th. Today was my day! The most difficult part with such an environment, such pressure, is to concentrate the same on each and every shot. Today I managed to do it! Braden GELLENTHIEN (USA)
Braden GELLENTHIEN (USA) – 2nd, and new match world record holder!
To be honest, a lot of joy of being the new match world record holder in my semifinal disappeared when I had that only one bad arrow in the final. That one bad shot was enough for Sergio to beat me. Still, since we will change the format of competition next year, maybe I will keep this world record forever!Patrizio HOFER (SUI) – 3rd Against Sergio in the semi-final, I was too soft. In fact, I was looking too much for the perfect shot, but I didn’t feel it. Against Jorge, for 3rd place, I was really eager to win. I was still a bit nervous at the beginning but then it went all well.
I am happy with the 3rd place, because it shows that I stay on top. I have been the only one who competed in the 16 world cup stages since it started in 2006. I have been regularly on the podium for the last two years.
Compound Women
Luzmary GUEDEZ (VEN) - winner I was very nervous, especially in the final against Camilla shooting in front of her fans. In fact, I did not shoot really well but I hung in there. I managed to stay in the yellow and at the end I pulled through a victory! While some prepare for the Olympic Games, we, compound archers, must shoot for the world championships and the World Cup. When I won the stage in Boe last year I thought it was well-deserved, because I worked so hard for it. And then I thought that I can win anything, including a Final. Today, it’s a lot of emotions and joy to win in this beautiful place, in front of all these fans and even a prince!
Camilla SOEMOD (DEN) – 2nd I can’t change anything right now… My second but last arrow went too fast. I think I was just as nervous as she was. Still, I think I won 2nd place. It was an amazing experience to shoot in Copenhagen, even more in the Nyhawn Canal. I would like to thank all the fans who came to support all the Danish archers for the mixed team events. It was great!
