Former World Archery executive director Terry Reilly dies aged 77

The former executive director of World Archery (then FITA), Olympian Terry Reilly, died after a battle with cancer on 21 March 2025 at the age of 77, according to Archery Australia.

Reilly competed at the 1972 and 1976 Olympic Games, was competition manager for the Sydney 2000 Olympics, and managed the FITA office in Lausanne from 2002 to 2005. He was also an active coach and spent time as chief executive officer of Archery Australia.

He started archery in Adelaide in 1960, helped to organise the World Archery Championships there in 1987, and impacted the sport on a local, national and international level throughout his life.

World Archery secretary general Tom Dielen said:

“Terry Reilly OLY was not only a great archer but competition manager for the successful Olympics at Homebush in Sydney. His dedication to our sport was appreciated by all and, on behalf of World Archery and the international community, we send our most sincere condolences to his wife Ieva and Archery Australia.”
