Korea wins 10th Olympics in a row
The legacy lives on.
Korea’s women remain unbeaten at the Olympic Games and have taken every team title since the event’s introduction at Seoul 1988.
Four decades of history rested on Lim Sihyeon’s final arrow.
After surviving a shock shoot-off with the Netherlands in their semifinal, Lim, Jeon Hunyoung and Nam Suhyeon found themselves in another tiebreak in the final, and this time with the first title of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on the line.
The opponent? China. The same China that had already upset them twice on the Hyundai Archery World Cup circuit in 2024. And a China that fought back from a 4-0 deficit to force an extension to the match.
All three of the Korean arrows landed around the line, two needed judge confirmation.
One needed to be upgraded from nine to 10. China had 27 with a good 10.
There were stop-start celebrations from coach Yang Changhoon – but the stadium at Invalides only finally erupted when a sly finger from the target judge indicated that an arrow had broken the line. It was Lim’s.
A final 10.
A tenth Olympic title.
