India awarded two Olympic team slots through world ranking
India, China and Indonesia have been awarded the final Olympic team quota places after the release of the world ranking list after the third stage of the Hyundai Archery World Cup in Antalya.
India was the highest-ranked unqualified nation in both the recurve men’s and recurve women’s team categories, at second and eighth respectively, so will upgrade its two individual spots to a full six-athlete squad for Paris 2024.
China adds a men’s team, while Indonesia will complete the women’s team line-up.
Only 12 teams per gender will compete in the archery competitions at the Olympic Games. Teams could qualify at the world championships in 2023, continental championships and the recent final qualifier.
Recurve men’s teams from China, Chinese Taipei, Colombia, France, Great Britain, India, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Mexico and Türkiye; and recurve women’s teams from China, Chinese Taipei, France, Germany, Great Britain, Indonesia, India, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, the Netherlands and the USA will compete in Paris.
The individual places previously won by India, China and Indonesia have also been reallocated on the world ranking, with Denmark, Israel, Luxembourg and Romania all picking up their first quotas for the Games.
Only seven nations have full, six-archer quotas for these Olympics.
