Kaufhold earns #1 spot in world ranking after breakthrough 2023

Following a string of top finishes, including winning the Olympic test event, 19-year-old Casey Kaufhold has moved into the number one spot in the Sanlida World Archery Rankings.

She is the first recurve woman from the USA to hold the position since the inception of the system in 2001.

Kaufhold had three consecutive top-four results to conclude the international season. She finished fourth at the world championships in Berlin, won in Paris and then collected another fourth place at the Hyundai Archery World Cup Final in Hermosillo.

“For some reason, Paris has gone well for me every year,” she said after the test event, which was also the fourth stage of the World Cup circuit.

“To win it individually, it feels really good. I’m hoping to keep this Paris streak going until [the Olympics] next year.”

Kaufhold replaces British 18-year-old Penny Healey as recurve women’s world number one. Korea’s Lim Sihyeon moves up to third and Mexican Olympic medallist Alejandra Valencia into fourth.

Marcus D’Almeida, Mike Schloesser and Ella Gibson retain their top spots in the other categories.

New Hyundai Archery World Cup Champion Mathias Fullerton was won of the largest movers in the new list, up seven places in the compound men’s ranking to third.
