Message of condolence after passing of Global Sports Development founder
World Archery secretary general Tom Dielen has issued the following message of condolence following the passing of the founder of the Foundation for Global Sports Development Dr Steven Ungerleider after a battle with pancreatic cancer:
“I met Steven many years ago and his passion for sport in general, and archery specifically, impressed me.”
“The Foundation for Global Sports Development has been active in supporting our sport for several years. Thanks to his foundation’s support, World Archery was recently able to offer special funding to its elite athletes when they lost a lot of their income due to COVID-19.”
“My heartfelt thanks go to Steven on behalf of all the athletes his work has benefited and my sincerest condolences to his family, friends and all those who feel his loss.”
Dr Ungerleider was a passionate sports advocate who created the Foundation for Global Sports Development in 1996. It’s mission is to promote sport through funding, education, films and mentorship.
The organisation has been an active supporter of World Archery’s development activities over the past decade.
