World Archery’s honorary treasurer, Gianni Mangino, has died at the age of 95.
Mangino was treasurer of World Archery from 1979 to 2005, then chair of the finance and audit committee until 2007. On retirement from that role he was made honorary treasurer of the international federation.
He was also honorary treasurer of World Archery Europe, having served as treasurer of the continental association from 1992 to 2012.
Mangino was awarded a gold plaquette from World Archery in 1999 for services to the sport.
Born in Turin in 1928, Mangino was also a national and international judge.
“Gianni was treasurer and integral to the workings of World Archery and World Archery Europe for more than 20 years. He taught me the basics of then-FITAs finances when I joined the organisation,” said World Archery secretary general Tom Dielen.
“He was an administrator, an international judge and a technical delegate, and an active contributor to the sport. We send our most sincere condolences to his family and friends.”
Gianni Mangino’s funeral will be held on at 10h00 on Wednesday 1 March 2023 at the Parrocchia La Visitazione in Turin, Italy.
