Paralympian Mijno wins 10th national title at Italian indoor championships
Two-time Paralympic medallist Elisabetta Mijno collected her 10th national title at Italy’s national para indoor championships in Palacalafiore this weekend. The 35-year-old, who was the individual runner-up at London 2012, defeated Enza Petrilli in a straight-set finale to retain her recurve women’s open crown from 2020.
Diego Garaviglia, Maria Andrea Virgilio, Paolo Cancelli, Daniele Cassiani and Giovanni Maria Vaccaro also won titles.
Cassiani will claim world records from this event, too.
W1 archer Cassiani shot 580 out of a possible 600 points for the 60-arrow 18-metre round and 147 out of a possible 150 points for the 15-arrow match, two and three points up on the current world bests, set by Salvatore Demetrico at this tournament two years ago.
Cassiani defeated Demetrico in the individual final in Palacalafiore, 145-144.
Winners Mijno, Cancelli, Virgilio and Cassiani are training towards the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games with the Italian national para archery team and attended a camp in Padua, near Venice, in mid-February.
