Adjustment to team rules for 2021 Indoor Archery World Series

The Indoor Archery World Series team event is at the forefront of the competition in 2021.

Squads representing companies, clubs or independent groups can compete internationally – remotely – with a shot at qualifying for this year’s team-only Indoor Archery World Series Finals, which will trial an exciting new tournament format.

With a guaranteed prize fund of 10,000 CHF and acting as the elite aspect of this year’s international indoor circuit, we wanted to ensure the event would be fair. That is why we are requiring team ranking scores to be shot at tournaments registered in the World Archery calendar (with world record status).

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in further partial or full lockdowns in many countries around the world.

This will make it difficult for teams to shoot the three events that would have contributed to the ranking – so the decision has been made to update the rules and change how the ranking will be decided.

Team member scores will still be totalled each competition weekend to produce a team result however only the single best team result from the season will be used in the ranking. It means that teams that can shoot multiple weekends will still benefit from more opportunities to climb the ranking – but fewer teams will be excluded from taking part due to health restrictions.

The top four ranked teams in each category will be invited to the remote Indoor Archery World Series Finals.

Registration for the team event is done through the online shop, will remain open until midnight on 31 December 2020 and costs 60 CHF. The team registration must be fully completed before the start of a competition for an archer’s scores to count.

Live events

Due to restrictions on sporting events and public gatherings in the Swiss canton of Vaud, the first live event scheduled for 21-22 November in Lausanne has been postponed with a view to hosting it in December.

An invitational event will take place at PH Archery AG in Wohlen, Switzerland instead.

The 2021 Indoor Archery World Series is a mass-participation circuit of live and online archery tournaments.
