World Archery joins Global Esports Federation
World Archery has officially joined the Global Esports Federation, the Singapore-based organisation whose vision is to organise a worldwide ecosystem around video game sporting events.
Founded at the end of 2019 with Chinese multimedia company Tencent as a key partner, the federation counts more than 50 national esports federations among its members, as well as the international federations representing table tennis and taekwondo on the Olympic programme.
The Global Esports Federation has plans to organise international events and launch the Global Esports Games.
World Archery is the international governing body for the Olympic and Paralympic sport of archery. It has explored electronic and remote competition, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, and will use its membership of the Global Esports Federation to investigate further opportunities for the sport in the video game domain.
