Former medical committee member Jean-Claude Lapostolle dies aged 70
Jean-Claude Lapostolle died in the night on 22 April at the age of 70. A doctor by profession, he has long been an archery volunteer, as a sports administrator and a judge.
He was selected for World Archery’s medical & sport sciences committee in 2001 and returned for a second term that ended in 2009. The Frenchman was heavily involved in ski archery and the organisation of the second World Archery Ski Championships in Bessans, France in 1999.
Jean-Claude was a member of the French Archery Federation’s board of directors and served as chair of its medical, field and 3D, and ski archery commissions. In 2012, he received the FFTA Grand Gold Plaquette for his commitment to the sport.
“He was a fantastic volunteer for many years and this is a big loss to the French Archery Federation and the whole archery family,” said World Archery secretary general Tom Dielen.
“We send our most sincere condolences to his family and especially his wife, Catherine.”
