Jinjiang 2020 Gymnasiade extends 80% flight discount until end of March
The 2020 Gymnasiade has extended its 80% discount with Xiamen Airlines on flights into Quanzhou Jinjiang and Xiamen Gaoqi until 31 March 2020. All participating competitors and officials are eligible for the reduction.
More than 3000 young athletes are expected to take part in this year’s event, which is being held in the Chinese city of Jinjiang on 17-24 October.
The archery competitions will follow international rules, with qualification and matchplay shot over 60 metres, and individual, team and mixed team events being held. Recurve archers born in 2003, 2004 and 2005 can compete as part of national teams that are entered by each country’s school sport federation.
The Gymnasiade was launched in 1976 in Wiesbaden, Germany with three sports: athletics, gymnastics and swimming.
Archery joined the programme in 2016, was featured again in 2018 and is now an obligatory sport.
In 2022, the Gymnasiade will take place in Caen, France. Since the event is scheduled every two years, all cadet archers now have the opportunity to compete in at least one of these major multisport competitions.
Member associations that do not already have links with their national school sport federations are encouraged to get in contact with a view to sending a team to Jinjiang.
