World Archery statement on coronavirus and Shanghai stage of Archery World Cup

World Archery secretary general Tom Dielen has issued the following statement with regard to the current outbreak of coronavirus in China:

“World Archery, the Chinese Archery Association and the organisers of the Shanghai stage of the Hyundai Archery World Cup are closely monitoring the coronavirus outbreak in China.”

“Based on the information currently available from the World Health Organisation, we are confident that the situation will be resolved well before our event in Shanghai in May. At this time, we see no reason to postpone or cancel the tournament.”

“Unless there is a significant change in circumstance, World Archery will issue its next official update at the end of February.”

The 2020 Hyundai Archery World Cup starts in Guatemala City in April. The Shanghai stage follows in May and Berlin, which will also act as the final qualification tournament for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, in June.

The location of the 2020 Hyundai Archery World Cup Final is yet to be announced.
