Taylor Worth, Paige Pearce top qualifiers at Sydney Indoor Archery Festival

Australian recurve archers Taylor Worth and Sarah Haywood and USA compounders Tate Morgan and Paige Pearce seeded top on Saturday 11 January at the 2020 Sydney Indoor Archery Festival.

The event is the fourth tournament on the Indoor Archery World Series. Winners will receive 250 elite ranking points.

Worth was the only recurve archer to shoot 590+ with 591 points.

His teammates at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, with whom he won bronze, ranked second and third. Alec Potts had 587 and Ryan Tyack scored 585.

Haywood’s 556 led the recurve women.

World number three Paige Pearce was the top-scoring compound archer over qualification. She shot 595, which was the world record heading into this season. (It now sits at 597.)

Tate Morgan took the top seed in the compound men’s competition with 593 points.

Top 32 cuts were made in the men’s events. Recurves needed 500 out of a possible 600 points, while compound shooters had to hit 559.

Competition continues at the Sydney Indoor Archery Festival with eliminations and finals on Sunday 12 January.
