George Ryals IV named head coach of USA Paralympic archery team

George Ryals IV has been named head coach of the USA Paralympic archery team. He brings over 25 years of experience coaching archery, expertise in product design, and a proven track record of high-performance management and team building.

“I am thankful for this opportunity and am very excited to work with the incredibly passionate and dedicated archers of the US para archery team,” said Ryals, who previously travelled with the team to the 2018 Para Pan American Championships in Medellin, Colombia.

“We are fortunate to have great talent. We will grow awareness, innovate technology and work together to adapt, overcome and create a lasting dynasty.”

Ryals launched the Archery Learning Center in Snellville, Georgia in 2010 and has since led the Hornets – the facility’s team of top junior archers – to multiple world titles and numerous national medals.

He is a USA Archery level four coach and was named developmental coach of the year by the US Olympic Committee in 2014.

In the lead-up to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, Ryals will be responsible for competition achievements, talent identification and outreach.

USA Archery’s Chief of Sport Performance Mary Emmons said she was confident George’s “coaching expertise and vast knowledge of archery” would help the para team “reach new heights”.
