Libyan coach Ali Arebi passes during training camp
Libyan archery coach Ali Arebi has died of a heart attack in Algeria. He was 60 years old.
Arebi, a former Libyan international archer who competed until 2013, coached Ali El Ghrari at the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games and then at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
He was attending an Olympic Solidarity training camp in the Algerian capital of Algiers, ahead of the African qualification tournament for the upcoming Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, when he passed away on Tuesday 11 July.
“Ali Arebi was active in developing archery in North Africa. His sudden loss as he was passing on his own experiences to young athletes with Olympic aspirations is tragic,” said World Archery Secretary General Tom Dielen.
World Archery, on behalf of the international archery family, offers its condolences to his family and friends, and the archery community in Libya.
