Thomas Chirault wins Salt Lake stage Prize for Precision
France’s Thomas Chirault was awarded the Prize for Precision at the third stage of the 2018 Hyundai Archery World Cup in Salt Lake City, USA. Thomas shot 60 total 10s through qualification and third-round-plus matchplay, the most of any of the recurve men.
Stage winner Mauro Nespoli of Italy, who qualified for the 2018 Hyundai Archery World Cup Final with the victory, came second with 56 10s.
Twenty-year-old Chirault finished third at the event, taking his first career individual podium on the international circuit and climbing to fifth in the World Cup rankings with just one stage left to go.
The Longines Prize for Precision is an annual competition split into two parts.
The most accurate archer, measured by the number of 10s shot in tournament, in one division at each of the four stages is awarded a stage prize. The Shanghai award (won by Kim Jongho) was for compound men and Antalya was for compound women (won by So Chaewon); Salt Lake City was the turn of the recurve men and Berlin will be for recurve women.
Either recurve or compound archers – alternating each year – are also ranked over the whole season and receive awards at the Hyundai Archery World Cup Final.
The 2018 awards are for recurve archers. Kim Woojin (179) and Chang Hye Jin (131) lead the lists after three stages.
The third stage of the Hyundai Archery World Cup took place in Salt Lake City, USA on 18-24 June.
