Board of Justice and Ethics Chair John Chaplin dies aged 82

John Chaplin has passed away on 20 April 2018 after a short illness. In 2015, he was elected as Chair of World Archery's Board of Justice and Ethics, after being a member since 2007.

The Australian was a past President of Archery Australia and served as Chair of his national federation's Appeals Committee.

He was awarded the Honorary National Judge title for his services between 1992 and 2012, and was a Continental Judge representing World Archery Oceania from 2006 till 2012.

A former International Judge Candidate, Chaplin served as Director of Shooting for the Sydney 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Member of the Jury of Appeal at Beijing 2008, and was Technical Delegate for the Sydney 2009 World Masters Games.

In Athens 2004, he was with the Australian Olympic Team as Team Manager for Archery.

World Archery Secretary General Tom Dielen stated: “John was a great volunteer and he will be greatly missed both in Australia and worldwide. He modernised the working of the Board of Justice and Ethics.”
