Aladin Gabr elected Vice President of Egyptian Olympic Committee
World Archery Executive Board Member Dr Aladin Gabr was elected to serve a four-year term until 2021 as Vice President of the Egyptian Olympic Committee at its headquarters in Cairo on 30 November 2017.
The elections were the first to happen after the introduction of a new sports law, which implemented a new legal framework ensuring federations were compatible with the Olympic Charter, in particular the principle of responsible autonomy.
Dr Gabr also acts as President of World Archery’s continental association in Africa and member association in Egypt.
He was on the board of directors of the Egyptian Olympic Committee from 2009 to 2013 and then its Secretary General from 2013 to 2017.
A Guinness World Record holder for achieving national team status in four sports – swimming, pentathlon, bowling and water polo – Gabr has been head of several Egyptian sports missions, including the first Youth Olympic Games in Singapore in 2010.
