Lisa Unruh nominated for World Games Athlete of the Year award

Lisa Unruh has been nominated for the World Games’ Athlete of the Year award after a season in which she cemented her reputation as one of the best all-round recurve women in the world.

The Rio 2016 Olympic silver medallist won gold at the World Games in Wroclaw, Poland in the field archery discipline.

The 29-year old German athlete has taken medals at international target, field and indoor tournaments – and won in Wroclaw in a single-arrow shoot-off.

Twenty-one candidates, including Lisa, were shortlisted for the International World Games Association’s Athlete of the Year award in 2017, with the first round of voting open to the public until 15 January. The highest-ranked nine athletes will then progress to a second round of voting lasting until 31 January 2018.
