Esmaeil Ebadi: Positive thinking overcomes bad periods

Want to see inside the mind of an international archery athlete? We’ll be asking some of the world’s best for advice, expertise and an idea of their approach to the sport.

This time, compound men's team 2015 world champion Esmaeil Ebadi answers our questions…

1. What makes the perfect archer?

My work on your technical and mental skills, the use of a psychologist and always following instructions from excellent coaches. I also have a good nutrition and rest programme.

2. TRAINING VERSUS COMPETITION

Giving instructions and training is fun while competition is the serious climax.

3. What keeps you going back to your bow?

A childhood dream.

4. How do you cope with bad times?

I get instructions and guidance on the course of shooting and keep thinking positively.

5. How do you relax?

I use Hiova ball when I have a competition (throwing a golf ball).

6. Your top nutritional tip?

To eat at around 12:00 for lunch and an early dinner around 19:30. Eat at the right time and early evening then sleep better.
