Mister Perfect is among 16 athletes or teams shortlisted for the International World Games Association’s Athlete of the Year Award in 2016.

Mike Schloesser is the reigning world number one in the compound men's category.

In 2016, he became Hyundai Archery World Cup Champion for the first time at the Final held in Odense, Denmark. He was also silver medallist at the World Archery Indoor Championships.

“Mister Perfect” shot the perfect score of 600 for the 18-metre ranking round at the Indoor Archery World Cup stage in Nimes in January 2015 – the only person in history to achieve the perfect round in competition.

Mike was again close when he shot 599 at the first stage of the 2016/17 indoor stage in November 2016 in Marrakesh – and then he did it again at stage two in Bangkok.

The 22-year-old Dutchman also broke the record for the 50-metre ranking round at the start of the 2016 outdoor season with 717 out of a possible 720. But this mark was then bettered by Braden Gellenthien a few months later.

Sixteen candidates have been shortlisted for the IWGA Athlete or Team of the Year 2016.

The first round of voting will close on 15 January and determine the top ten finalists. The final round starts on 16 January and last until 31 January. The winner will be announced on 1 February 2017.

In 2015, Colombian compound archer Sara Lopez was among the athletes shortlisted for the award.
