Belgium has won 11 gold medals in archery at the Olympic Games, behind only Korea with 19 and the USA’s 13, but the most recent of Belgium’s Champions was crowned 96 years ago, at the Antwerp 1920 Olympic Games.

The age of the USA’s Samuel Duvall, the oldest medal winner in archery at the Olympic Games and second-oldest in all sports. He claimed a silver medal in the team double American round event at the St Louis 1904 Olympic Games.

Archery has been present at every Olympic Games since 1972, when it returned to the programme after a 52-year absence.

Since 1984, all individual gold medals in archery at the Olympic Games have been won by archers under the age of 31. The oldest in that period was Korea’s Oh Jin Hyek, who was aged 30 years and 354 days when he won gold at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Belgium’s Hubert van Innis holds the record for most medals, with nine, and most gold medals – six – in archery at the Olympic Games. He won his medals between 1900 and 1920.

Korea has won the gold medal in all seven women’s team events at the Olympic Games, since it was introduced in 1988. They have also won four of the seven gold medals in the men's team event.

Kim Soo-Nyung, of Korea, is the woman who has won the most medals – six – and most gold medals – four – in archery at the Olympic Games.

Kim Soo-Nyung is the only athlete to win three gold medals in archery at the Olympic Games in the same event. She won gold in the women's team event in 1988, 1992 and 2000 – and was recently named World Archery’s best Olympic archer in history.
