Statement on attack on Bastille Day in Nice
On behalf of the worldwide archery family, World Archery’s thoughts are with the people of Nice, France and the families of those affected by the incident on 14 July 2016.
World Archery condemns any act of violence or terrorism and considers them unjustifiable.
Nice successfully hosted the European Masters Games in 2015, which included a large archery competition, and is in a region that contains a large archery community.
Prof Dr Ugur Erdener said: “We particularly extend our thoughts to the archery community of Nice and hope that none are directly affected by the incident.”
“The upcoming Olympics arrive at a critical time. I hope and am confident that the Games will unite us all through the power of sport, peace and diversity, which is so desperately needed at this time.”
