Chairman of the Edo State Football Association, and close friend of Felix Okugbe, Mr Frank Ilaboya explained on Saturday that Felix had traveled to India for spine infection surgery, which was successful, but had later developed complications after returning to Nigeria.

Felix was also fighting protracted cancer.

Dr Okube was a promoter of sports television in Nigeria. Since his election as President of the nation’s archery federation in 2012, he had seen the international team compete at the TIZOCATA – International Tournament Zone West and Central African Archery – in Cotonou, Benin.

The veteran sports journalist was the head of sports at DAAR communications (AIT and Raypower) and also the Chief Executive Officer of Mundial Sport International.

Felix Okugbe, 51, leaves behind a wife and three children.

World Archery’s thoughts go to his family and friends, and to the Nigeria Archery Federation and their archers.
