Greece opens new archery training centre
The centre was inaugurated on Saturday 13 September 2014 by the Minister of Sports Yiannis Andrianos in the presence of the President of the Federation Petros Synadinos. That day marked the first day of the Open Youth Championships.
The event was attended by the Secretary General of the Hellenic Olympic Committee Manolis Katsiadakis, the Chairman of the Ethics Commission Giorgos Lenos, the President of the Athens Olympic Complex Petros Galaktopoulos, the Mayor of Maroussi G Patoulis, the Mayor of Heraklion N Babalos, the Mayor of Marathonas I Psinakis, as well as representatives of archery clubs and many friends of the sport.
Alongside the inauguration and the running of the competition, there was a special area where guests could try archery under the guidance of Hellenic Archery Federation's coaches.
Located in the Olympic Stadium, the side towards the Peace Station, the position was chosen by the Hellenic Archery Federation courtesy of the Stadium Board. The training ground was made possible by the volunteer work of archers with help from the workers of the Olympic Athletic Center of Athens.
The project comes from a will to fight against the abandonment of the Athens 2004 Olympic venues, which have fallen into disuse in recent years.
