Mario Scarzella re-elected World Archery Europe President
Mario Scarzella was re-elected to serve a third term as President of World Archery Europe. The Italian federation President first accepted the role at the Jaen 2006 Congress, and will now remain in it until at least 2018.
“It’s an honour to receive such a vote of confidence,” said Mr Scarzella, after collecting 34 votes in favour of his re-election. “It has been exciting to lead World Archery Europe’s period of modernisation over the last few years, including the update from the EMAU name and brand.”
“Our Congress continues to make satisfying and progressive decisions. However it is always sad to say goodbye to members and officials that have worked so hard for the development of archery.”
Mr Hakan Cakiroglu was elected Vice President, Phillipe Bouclet re-elected to the Executive Board – and Sabrina Steffens and Daniel Pavlov newly elected as members to join them.
Both Secretary General Marinella Piscotti and Chariman of the Finance Board Christian LaForest’s tenures were also renewed.
Having acted as first EMAU then World Archery Europe Vice President since 1996, Klaus Lindau retired from the continental association’s Executive Board. He was subsequently awarded the title of Honorary Vice President and presented with a plaquette for his exceptional lifetime services to archery.
World Archery President Prof Dr Ugur Erdener received a plaquette in recognition of the energy and devotion his spends on the worldwide development of archery.
For her work towards the promotion of archery and success working with young people, Irena Rosa also received an award.
Delegates approved a motion to hold the European Para Archery Championships every two years in even years. This calendar update comes into effect immediately.
