Flash Quotes from Team event !

Hiroshi Yamamoto (JPN): recurve men team’s gold

The cheering was loud and this gave me some power. I actually can take some power from the opponents’ cheering as well. The 1-1-1 format is difficult (each archer in a team shoot 1 arrow only at a time). It requires some strong coordination in the team and we have less time to shoot compared to the previous rules. Tomorrow I play in the individual final against Park Kyung Mo from Korea. However, for me it doesn’t matter how strong my opponent is. I shoot with the same heart !

Tatyana Berezhna (UKR): recurve women team’s bronze

I changed my bow and arrows recently so I still had some problems to fine-tune everything during the week. However, I am really glad we won the bronze medal with the team. Our goal is to go for gold at the European Championships. (note from redaction : Ukraine set a new European Record at 220 pts for 24 arrows in Antalya)

Viktor Sydoruk (UKR) – Ukraine Team Captain

We did an 8 days camp here before the competition. The organization was super, the weather is great and it is really enjoyable to be on special archery field. It is one of the best in the world. Overall, we are really happy that the World Cup develops !

Stéphane Dardenne (FRA) - compound men team’s bronze

It is great to get the bronze medal here ! It is my first medal at such level, because I come from Field Archery. We form a new team but we are improving and this result comes as confirmation. We had to fight for it, come back from behind and finally only win by 1 point ! This tournament was a really good preparation for the European Championships in Athens late summer.

Dominique Genet (FRA) - compound men team’s bronze

I am happy with my tournament here, the bronze with the team and my 9th place in individual. This 9th place gives me some good points for the World Cup ranking. I hope the federation will find the budget to send me to San Salvador or Shanghai so that I can compete in a third World Cup event this year and I hope to qualify for Mexico. I shot even better here than I did in Porec, but in 12 arrows match-play, you must be a little lucky. Especially in the early rounds, when you shoot twice 6 arrows. The opponent who beat me scored 118 pts that match, so that was really difficult to top. Maybe, if we would shoot ends of 3 arrows in every rounds of match play, it would even be more intense. We could put more pressure on our opponent.

Almendra Ochoa (MEX) – compound women team’s bronze

I can’t believe I shot a 7 and a 8, but my teammates covered for me with a lot of 10s ! I thought I shot these arrows well, but my coach told me I threw my arm too much, so I could correct it. Near the end, we were up by 10 points, we could relax a bit and really enjoy the match, the cheering of the crowd. I compete with my sister and there are also my cousin, uncle and many Mexican fans in the stand, so it is a good feeling.

Anna Kazantseva (RUS) - compound women team’s gold

We have a strong compound women team, but we don’t have any secret method. We just work hard. I live in Moscow. My two teammates, Sofia Goncharova and Oktiabrina Bolotova, are from a small town in the far East called Chita. I am happy all of us will shoot in the individual gold and bronze medal matches tomorrow. I will score some more point for the World Cup and I hope to make it to the Grand Final in Mexico. If I can get visas, I will try to participate to the San Salvador and Shanghai events.
